I am currently employed at the Union Market as a food preparer at the back of the house. I cut vegetables, marinade bread for croutons, things like that. It’s not the most glamorous job, but it helps me earn spending money. It’s really not that hard, and the union is really close to my dorm, so it’s pretty convenient. It’s usually more bearable and time goes by way faster when I talk to other people during my shift and when good music is playing while we work. it’s a first come first serve basis when it comes to the stereo, so whoever gets a hold of it first gets to choose what music we listen to. I usually try to play the radio using my phone, so I get to pick the radio station, but sometimes we get stuck with really soft, classical music or something like that. The head chefs are all pretty cool, and they’re usually very nice, unless you do something wrong and they have to answer for it. I work 12 hours a week, which isn’t bad at all, and I get them all done after three consecutive work days. I get a free meal for every shift, which is actually kind of a problem because I don’t get to use my swipes as much, leaving me with too many swipes at the end of the quarter. I plan to sign up to work there again for spring quarter, but probably try and shift to an office assistant job for next school year.
I tried to apply a job in dinning place, but they always told me they had enough people~~ You are so lucky。
ReplyDeleteI applied end of fall quarter and they hired me for winter quarter; the hiring process wasn't very selective. I think it just depends on good timing, because they really needed people at that time.
