(40) Timely

I think my article is timely because the party scene is huge on college campuses nowadays, and a majority of college students have admitted to drinking even if they are underage. Many find ways to gain access to alcohol, whether it be older friends, fake IDs, or whatnot. These underage drinkers are completely aware of the rules, yet actively choose not to abide by them. This is a known fact and I think we can safely generalize this and apply it to all college campuses. Almost everyone I know here at Ohio State is a drinker, and I have been to parties with kegs and exorbitant amounts of alcohol just laying around. With alcohol being so abundant and relatively easy to get, the night scene on campus can get pretty rowdy and uncontrollable. Girls drink a lot more nowadays, and are more willing to do things they wouldn’t normally do when under the influence of alcohol, since they don’t think as clearly. Men, however, are more likely to take advantage of girls when they are under the influence, rather than vice-versa. Being physically stronger, guys can hold down girls easily, especially when the girl is weak and groggy from the alcohol. Even without being spiked, alcohol is capable of significantly delaying reactions and sedating drinkers. During the early stages, the girls will get more sociable and confident, and possibly more flirty. After a few more drinks, some senses may be impaired, along with memory and comprehension. When the girl has reached this stage in drinking, it is fairly easy to manipulate her and take advantage.
